Bark Control Collars

There are options to control your dog’s barking that are humane and effective. These antibark devices are called Bark Control Collars and Professional Dog Trainers recommend them as one of the best deterrents for training your dog not to bark.

The collar attaches to your dog’s neck, and can be used with your dog’s regular collar. It has a sensor that detects the sounds or vibrations from your dog and then gives the dog a correction. Depending on the type of collar, it can be a citronella spray to the nose, a static or shock (intensity that can be preset and adjusted), or an Ultrasonic tone that only your dog can hear.

A bark control collar is a training aid that will help your dog become a better behaved family member. It is suggested that you review the different types of collars before making a choice, ensuring that you match the right collar to your dog. A professional dog trainer can give you advice with this as well as doing your own research.

You now have many options in the training of your dog with Bark Control Collars. Some of the best of the collars are Petsafe, Premier, Lentek, Multivet, Citronella, SportDog, and Tritronics.

Controlling my dogs' gas?

I have found a wonderful, premium food for my dogs that contains no grains and lots of healthy fruits and vegetables. My dogs’ coats are looking glossy and their energy level has increased. The one unfortunate side-effect is that it has made them gassy. When they let loose they can clear a room. Is their anything I can do to control my dogs’ gas without changing their food?

PLEASE READ ALL BEFORE COMMENT!

I rescued a pomeranian from the shelter 2 years ago and she never barked so much before but this year shes being so Ornery and barks at everything. My fiance will drop something soft on the ground in my room and she will start barking all the way in the living room and wont stop until an hour later. I have tried the holding the muzzle thing and telling her firmly NO but that doesn’t work at all so we found a ultra sonic anti bark collar on ebay should i get it?

All it does is makes a loud sound well…it shocks too but i read i can turn that part off. do you think the sound would stop her from barking every time?
Thanks but i tried that allready and we have little iams treats too and i say shhhhh loud then wait and then hand her the treat and say good girl but this no longer works for some reason.

Do anti bark collars like Innotek spray, Petsafe electronic collar or Dogtra no bark collars work for dogs that bark out of fear?
We have tried everything to stop our dog from barking at pedestrians during walks. She just goes crazy barking and wanting to charge them when she sees someone walking/jogging toward us. It’s like she wants to get them before they get her.
It’s really stressful and feel so bad for people who have to cross our path during their walks.
We have tried following techniques, and none seems to work with her. This is the reason I am thinking of resorting to the spray or electronic devices.

1) blocking her view
2) giving her treats
3) sitting her down and tapping her nose with a stern "NO"
4) spraying water
5) ultrasonic sounds
6) running fast by pedestrians
7) having pedestrian stop in front of her, she sniffs gives a few barks then she is ok until another pedestrian comes our way then the cycle repeats again.

We really don’t know what else to do. If anyone has any other techniques that has worked with their dog, I would greatly appreciate the advice. Also if these sprays or electronic devices work on dog that deter dogs that bark out of fear.
FYI: my dog is 15lbs terrier mix & very fearful, however, when in crowd of people like at a coffee shop, she is a mute and just wants me to hold her.

Also, debarking is not an option.
Note: I tried calming her down stroking her, telling her "no" in soothing tone for 3 days straight but that didn’t work for her either. I wished it did. :(

BarkBusters really work?

I have 2 dogs (a maltese and a yorkie) both great dogs but LOOOOVE to bark at everything outside the window and door, everytime they hear a noise that could be someone pulling in our driveway. We tried professional training, but to be honest we didn’t like the idea of using the choke collar on such a little dog… our maltese is 5 1/2 lbs and he couldnt breathe when we used the choke collar. We tried spray bottles, they thought it was a game. We use the "kennel up" and make them get in their kennels but it never stops the behavior, we even tried the click and treat training which did teach our maltese to ring a bell when he needs to go out, but didnt help the barking at all. I was thinking those citronella collars but im just not sure how well that would work so I heard about bark busters… wondering if anyones tried it and what they thought?
Jade- I really liked your answer, the information was really what I was looking for…

The problem with all of these things, is that they are alone in the kennel for 4 hours each day. The maltese breeder was saying that even if we enforce it at home, they are barking in the kennel all day long and not getting punished, so we really need a barking collar… What do you think about this? I just cant imagine putting an electric shock collar on a 5 1/2 and a 7 lbs dog! that sounds horrible.

Actually, they are just puppies. There is a 9 month old female Sheltie (Shetland Sheepdog) and a 6 month old male Sheltie. Our neighbor complained about them barking and called animal control so we’ve been forced to keep them indoors. That is fine right now ’cause we have a foot of snow but it would be nice to let them spend more time in there large fenced in area once it warms up. It’s not like they are just barking to bark or because they are unhappy. They bark at the squirrels which heavily populate our backyard and the occasional deer. They also bark at our cats! It’s the younger male who barks the most and he barks also when he is excited like on our walks. Anyone who knows anything about Shelties will admit that although they are a beautiful, extremely intelligent breed that they can tend to be barkers! My Mom wants to have the little guy de-barked or try a "shocking" collar! He is already a little shy and I’m afraid this would traumatize him for life. Any suggestions?
Also, what are the laws about dogs barking during the day? They make much less noise than the construction going on a few houses down! We live in Michigan in a small, mostly summer home town (but our next door neighbors have to be year rounders, of course!) that is not really a subdivision but far from the country.

They keep destroying everything, we keep having to fix things or replace things and we are in the middle of looking for a new place to live and having the hardest time finding a place that will accept dogs at all let alone 2 large dogs. I think it would be more responsible to just focus on taking care of ourselves and our kids (have 2 + 1 on the way) plus I would really like to be able to have a backyard that is not controlled by dogs and their mess and set it up for the kids and have it be clean.

I tried to give him an ultimatum – either you be alone and keep your dogs and find a new place to live by yourself or you get rid of them and keep me and the family together. That didn’t go over so well…..

He thinks I’m cruel and heartless now!
Thank you all for answering- it is helpful to see from a different viewpoint I guess I am being heartless. However, I also want to clarify that he doesn’t doesn’t take care of them – they are 2 boy pit bulls, he won’t allow me to get them fixed (I have offered to take them to get fixed many times) but I guess male thing he doesn’t want them fixed. Plus he doesn’t clean up the poop outside I clean up most of the time but now I’m pregnant. He’s had 1 for a few years now which I am ok with but recently got a puppy even though I disagreed. Now they are constantly fighting and the puppy (now 1 yr old) has destroyed everything. It seems like now that there are 2 of them they are destroying everything so much more – the older dog never did anything like this before the puppy came along. And no matter how much I dislike them I still make sure they are taken care of, feed, clean, and have bones to chew on.
